I am asked often, is it really that simple to accept Christ? My answer, yes! The thief on the cross said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43. That thief did not work his way into heaven, he just believed. We all are sinners and need the grace and mercy of God!
The need for a Savior, have I sinned?
Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (No one can live a sinless, perfect life.)
Because I sin, the wage of that sin declares that I am separated from Christ. However, He gives me a gift if I accept it.
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death.” (Eternal death.) “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
I can’t do anything to win my salvation, it’s a gift. So, while I am sinning, He died for me and made a way.
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
So, I read this as, “For God so loved Stephanie, that He gave His only Son, that if Stephanie believes in Him, she should not perish but have eternal life.”
All I did was pray to God, told Him I was a sinner, and asked Him to forgive me. I believe in my heart that God sent His only son Jesus, and that God raised Him from the dead. Now I am a sinner saved by grace and have the Holy Spirit to guide me.
Romans 10:9
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:13
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Jesus died to pay the penalty for my sins and rescue me from eternal death. Salvation is available to anyone who will trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment but has passed from death to life” (John 5:24).
Romans 8:9-11
“You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
Because I accepted Christ, I am filled with the Holy Spirit, and I am compelled to tell others about Him. He created a wonderful life for us, but we can truly miss the abundance that this life can offer if we do not accept Him now. Please join me in this journey with Christ, you have nothing to lose (But your life) and everything to gain!
